The articles I'll be referring to can be found here:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/us-election/9644299/Sandy-Barack-Obama-to-tour-New-Jersey-with-Romney-ally-Christie.html
These two articles (one from the NYTimes, the other from a UK newspaper The Telegraph) highlight the effects of a natural disaster on the close 2012 Presidential race. The biggest highlight is the irony of President Obama touring a ruined New Jersey with a political adversary: Governor Chris Christie.
Interestingly, the Hurricane Sandy disaster hasn't really been harnessed by either candidate for President. The most that seems to have come from the disaster with regard to the two candidates is the apparent (and necessary) bipartisanship on President Obama's part, and further analysis of Romney's remarks during one of the debates where he spoke of FEMA in a not-very-nice manner.
This distinct lack of political play is in itself a play. It is apparent that Romney is distancing himself from appearing inappropriate during a time of crisis, similar to when he made remarks immediately after the attacks on the US consulate in Libya.
